SURVIVAL KIT.

Designer. Writer. Author. Illustrator. Man. Legend. Wednesday night, I was fortunate enough to sit-in in an exclusive presentation presented by none other than Kit Hinrichs. Since I am a student and the lecture is at our school at Art Center, we got first class treatment completed with red carpets, fine wine, cheese and crackers and a personal escort. No, not really... But Thursday night was the opening of the school's exhibition featuring a ton (times 10) of his pieces that were the size of a football field. Keep reading and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Oh, and if you don't know who Kit Hinrichs is, go somewhere and punch yourself in the face.

Ran into Edmund (right). This guy is everywhere.

Oh Tara.

Hi Kyle.

You've probably seen this couple a million times already. What's one more?

Christian in a circle.

The reason why I love Kit Hinrichs so much is his use of clean and organized typography. Simple (yet so complex) graphics that engage you into the design and keep you wanting more. The thing is, when you want more, you get more. Look for yourself...

His book designs are amazing. The grid system shows up in a subtle touch you don't even know it's been used. Your eye flows around the design so fluid your body feels like Jell-O. Word to Bill Cosby.

I gotta' go back to see the story behind these little guys. I'm headed back sometime next week when no one is there blocking my camera.

Don't let the photos fool you. There were a million people running in and out of my way the entire time I was there. That and the catering services bumping into everybody and spilling bacon-wrapped "things" on people. Cross the latter but the population count was grand. Part Two is coming soon...
